UHF (Ultra High Frequency) RFID reader is a critical long range identification hardware widely adopted in modern parking ticketing systems. Unlike barcode scanners that require visual scanning or short range card readers that need window down tapping, UHF readers enable hands free, long distance vehicle identification. UHF reader is an RFID device operating on the global 860 960 MHz frequency band, compliant with EPC Gen2 / ISO18000 6C standard. It is installed at parking entry & exit lanes, paired with directional antennas, passive UHF windshield tags, barrier gates, ticket kiosks and central parking ticketing management software.

Passive UHF vehicle tags stick on car windshields; no built in battery inside tags. They harvest energy from radio waves transmitted by the UHF reader and send back encrypted unique vehicle ID data. Typical effective reading distance ranges from 3 10 meters, so authorized vehicles can pass slowly without full stop or lowering car windows.
