How Does Sliding Gate Turnstile Work in a Turnstile Gate System?
Source:Sintronictech   Author:International Department

A sliding gate turnstile (horizontal sliding barrier turnstile) is a premium‑grade pedestrian access barrier within a complete turnstile gate system. Different from swing turnstile whose panels swing outward with a large‑radius arc, sliding gate turnstile moves tempered‑glass or acrylic barrier panels horizontally and retracts them into cabinet interior. It requires zero outward swing clearance, which makes it ideal for narrow‑space lobbies. Equipped with multi‑pair infrared sensor arrays, it delivers reliable anti‑tailgating and anti‑pinch performance. It supports multiple credential modes including RFID card, QR‑code, fingerprint and facial recognition. Sintronic sliding gate turnstiles have been deployed for overseas access‑control projects including Kuwait and Saudi Arabia pedestrian‑gate reference projects.

Core Working Principle of Sliding Gate Turnstile

Sintronic sliding gate turnstile follows premium‑lobby access‑control workflow: Credential Validation → Signal Input → Horizontal Panel Retraction → Infrared Passage Monitoring → Auto Panel Extension & Lock. Full‑cycle operation steps are described as follows.

1. Standby locked status

Under normal standby condition, sliding barrier panels extend outwards to form solid physical blocking. Multi‑channel infrared sensors continuously scan the whole lane area. LED indicator shows red light and waits for valid authorization signal.

2. Credential verification & signal input

Pedestrians present valid credentials: RFID IC card, QR‑code, fingerprint or facial recognition. After identity validation passes, external reader sends Wiegand or dry‑contact signal to sliding gate turnstile main‑control board.

3. Motor‑driven horizontal panel retraction

Upon receiving valid pass signal, brushless DC servo‑motor drives barrier panels to slide horizontally inward and fully retract into cabinet. LED status changes to green, opening the lane for pedestrian entry.

4. Infrared real‑time passage monitoring

During pedestrian passing, dense infrared sensor array continuously tracks pedestrian moving position, direction and number of people inside the lane. ‑ Anti‑tailgating: System triggers audio‑visual alarm if second person tries to sneak through under single authorization. ‑ Anti‑pinch safety: If obstacles are detected during panel closing movement, motor immediately stops or reverses sliding direction to avoid hitting pedestrians or personal belongings.

5. Automatic panel extension and return to locked standby

After the pedestrian fully clears all infrared beams, control board triggers motor to push sliding panels back to fully‑extended locked position. LED turns back to red and turnstile returns to standby for next user.

6. Emergency power‑off safety function

When main power supply fails, built‑in fail‑safe mechanism activates. Sliding panels automatically retract fully into cabinet, completely clearing passage for emergency evacuation, complying with public‑building fire‑safety requirements.
