A split detector is a core sensing component widely used in modern parking guidance systems. Unlike the integrated parking sensor, the split detector adopts a separated structure: the ultrasonic detecting module and LED status indicator are two independent units. This split design brings great flexibility for installation and maintenance in parking lots.
The split detector relies on ultrasonic ranging technology. The ultrasonic sensor is installed on the ceiling above each parking space. It continuously emits ultrasonic signals and measures the time taken for the sound wave to bounce back.
When a vehicle parks in the bay, the ultrasonic wave is reflected by the car roof. The sensor detects the distance change and sends a signal to the indicator light. The LED indicator, usually mounted on the front edge of the parking space, will turn red to show the space is occupied. If no vehicle is present, the light stays green, marking an available parking spot.
The sensor and indicator communicate via simple wiring. All status data of each parking bay will be uploaded to the central controller of the parking guidance system. Drivers can quickly find empty parking spaces via LED aisle signs or parking display screens.
Flexible installationThe sensor and indicator can be mounted separately. It adapts to low ceilings, beams, pipes and complex ceiling structures in underground parking garages. You do not need to fit one big all-in-one unit in limited space.
Easy maintenanceIf the LED indicator fails, technicians only replace the indicator unit without touching the ultrasonic sensor. It cuts maintenance cost and reduces downtime for large parking projects.
High detection accuracyUltrasonic technology works reliably regardless of car colors. It avoids false detection caused by dust, weak light and common interference in underground car parks.
Long service lifeSeparated design reduces heat concentration. The sensor and indicator have less mutual interference, extending the overall service time of the parking guidance system.
Split detectors are ideal for multi-story underground parking lots, shopping mall car parks, office building parking areas, hotel parking and airport parking projects. It is widely selected by parking system integrators for medium and large smart parking guidance projects.
