Understanding How Mini Swing Turnstiles Function in Pedestrian Turnstile Gate Systems
Source:Sintronictech   Author:International Department

A mini swing turnstile (compact swing barrier gate) is a space‑optimized pedestrian access device within a complete turnstile gate system. Derived from standard swing turnstile design, it retains horizontal ±90‑degree swing barrier panels but adopts a slim, reduced‑dimension cabinet for narrow or space‑constrained entryways. It supports multiple credential verification modes including RFID card, QR‑code, fingerprint and facial recognition. Sintronic mini swing turnstiles have been deployed for overseas access‑control projects including Kuwait and Saudi Arabia pedestrian‑gate reference projects.

Core Working Principle of Mini Swing Turnstile

Sintronic mini swing turnstile follows compact‑lobby access‑control workflow: Credential Validation → Signal Input → Swing‑Panel Opening → Infrared Passage Monitoring → Auto Swing‑Back & Lock. Full‑cycle operation steps are described as follows.

1. Standby locked status

Under normal standby condition, swing barrier panels stay in closed blocking position. Multi‑channel infrared sensors continuously scan the lane area. LED indicator shows red light and waits for valid authorization signal.

2. Credential verification & signal input

Pedestrians present valid credentials: RFID IC card, QR‑code, fingerprint or facial recognition. After identity validation passes, external reader sends Wiegand or dry‑contact signal to mini swing turnstile main‑control board.

3. Motor‑driven barrier swing open

Upon receiving valid pass signal, brushless DC motor drives swing barrier panels to rotate horizontally outward by 90 degrees. LED status changes to green, opening the lane for pedestrian entry.

4. Infrared real‑time passage monitoring

During pedestrian passing, dense infrared sensor array continuously tracks pedestrian moving position, direction and number of people inside the lane. ‑ Anti‑tailgating: System triggers audio‑visual alarm if second person tries to sneak through under single authorization. ‑ Anti‑pinch safety: If obstacle is detected while swing panels are closing, motor immediately stops or reverses movement to avoid hitting pedestrians or personal belongings.

5. Automatic swing‑back and return to locked standby

After the pedestrian fully clears all infrared beams, control board triggers motor to swing barriers back to fully‑closed locked position. LED turns back to red and turnstile returns to standby for next user.

6. Emergency power‑off safety function

When main power supply fails, built‑in fail‑safe mechanism activates. Swing panels automatically swing fully open, completely clearing passage for emergency evacuation, complying with public‑building fire‑safety requirements.
